Eva Ilene Woolard

Eva Ilene Woolard, age 93, of Anderson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 9, 2020 at Countryside Manor. She was born on August 30, 1927 to the late Oliver Joseph Covert and Mabel Grace Bailey.

Eva was born in a little “shotgun” house in Indianapolis that is still standing. The great depression caused employment to be almost non-existent in Indianapolis, so when Eva’s dad obtained a job in Greencastle at the State Highway Garage, he moved his family there in 1930. Eva graduated from Greencastle High School. After graduation, she met and married her husband Norman E. Woolard. Rev. Richard E. Lentz officiated their wedding ceremony in the chapel of Central Christian Church, April 13, 1946.

Eva worked for Delco Remy in Anderson in her earlier years. She and her daughter owned a consignment shop in Anderson for 12 years called “The Clothesbrokers.” For most of her life, she was a bookkeeper to her husband’s business P & W Body Shop and Used Cars.

Throughout life, Eva had many interests. One of the primary ones was genealogy. She also loved sewing as a creative activity. But in her later years, Eva was only interested in serving her Lord by helping others. She served in the church in the ladies’ work and did many presentations, including numerous book reviews. She was a member of North Anderson Wesleyan Church since 2007. Eva was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She is one of a kind and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Eva is survived by her children Susan Keirns, Brent Woolard (Pari), and Bruce Woolard; grandchildren Michael Woolard (Chastity), Daniel Woolard, Brent L. Woolard (Brittany), Stacia Woolard, Jill Bott (Kevin), Jennifer Chambers, Kaley Woolard (Jeremy), Jessica Woolard (Joshua), Joshua Woolard, Jona Dame, Dyllon Dame; several great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also very special friend Mary Scobee.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents listed above; son Norman Woolard; brothers Jesse, Dale, Donald, and Jim Covert; and sisters Wanda Hinshaw, and Mary Alice Nees; and grandson Jared Woolard.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to North Anderson Wesleyan Church in memory of Eva.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday October 14, 2020 at North Anderson Wesleyan Church, 1947 E 240 N, Anderson, IN 46012, from 10am-1pm with a funeral service beginning at 1pm. Burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery. Pastors David Shafer, James Stamper, and Ed Purciful will be officiating.
