Fredrick E, Merritt

Fredrick E. Merritt, age 57, of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 20, 2021. He was born on April 24, 1964 to the late Samuel Merritt and Pamela Merritt.

Fred was a good man, a different kind of guy, but a great friend. He served in the United States Navy for three years, then later worked for Broadway Glass and Anderson Glass for several years. Being in the Navy, everything in Fred’s life had a place. He was a collector of all things, but kept it organized. He loved any kind of music and you could find him out in his barn blasting his favorite songs, enjoying a beer or two. He spent his free time watching Nascar, Notre Dame football, and especially spending anytime he could with his granddaughter. She was his entire world. Fred was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Fred is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dollie Merritt; sons Rodney Poore (Elizabeth), Fredrick Merritt II, and Jonathan Poore; granddaughter Lillian Poore; and several good friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents listed above.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 2-5pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
