Fredrick “Fred” Michael McGuire, 66, passed away suddenly on August 28, 2019 in Anderson.

Fred was born Jan. 14, 1953 in Anderson to John and Phyllis (Schneider) McGuire. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1971. From there he studied and played golf at the University of Mississippi for a short time.

Fred was a loving son, brother, father & grandfather, but his greatest accomplishment and source of pride were his girls. He is survived by his daughters Amanda Strauser, Maggie McGuire, Mallory (Danny) Stanley of Anderson and Caitlin McGuire of Lapel; grandchildren, Logan Burns (fiancé, Sarah Bowyer), Isabella Ramirez, Isaiah Ramirez, Landen Strauser and Elijah Thomas; sister, Johnella (Bob) Mathley.

An extremely handy guy, Fred spent most of his career as union carpenter, retiring in 2013 shortly before his Multiple Myeloma diagnosis. Fred enjoyed reading and always kept a book in hand. He was an avid golfer and was never far from a course before his diagnosis. An expert in Indian artifacts, he and took pride in his collection and the years of memories walking the fields. He had a great passion for gardening which he loved to share his with his friends and family. We will miss his gourmet cooking and the laughter he brought to us every day with his sense of humor and rebellious personality.

Our family is thankful for the many lifelong friends that continued to visit and bring him joy throughout his battle with Myeloma. Many thanks to Dr. Rafat Abanour & staff at IU Simon Cancer Center, and the staffs at Carmel Health & Living and Lindberg Crossing.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29th from 2:30 to 4 p.m., followed by a service at 4p.m. at Tanglewood Conference Center, 3522 E 10th St, Anderson. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to IUF/Myeloma Research Fund; mail to PO Box 7072 Indianapolis IN 46207.
