With grief and fond memories, we announce the passing of Galo Ramirez. Galo's journey began on June 28, 1934, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and sadly reached its peaceful end on July 18, 2024, in Anderson, IN.
Galo was an individual of remarkable charm and outgoing personality. He possessed the rare gift of forming connections effortlessly, making friends with everyone he met. His end demeanor was complemented by a deep-rooted sense of patriotism and pride for his home in the United States.
Educated at Purdue University, Galo graduated with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science, setting the foundation for his successful career as a Mechanical Engineer. He worked for Delco Remy for 30 years. Beyond his professional achievements, he found joy in playing tennis and soccer whenever time allowed. Music also held a special place in his heart, often serenading those around him with melodies from his guitar.
One of Galo's proudest accomplishments was serving as an ambassador for the Pan-American Games in 1987, a role that showcased his passion for sports and camaraderie on an international stage. Galo Ramirez will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering patriotism that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
Galo is survived by his wife Nancy Ramirez of 58 years; children Steven Ramirez (Jenny), Crystal Ayres (Ben), and Leslie Ramirez (Jennifer); grandchildren Roman, Tianna, Kaesha (Kavish), Justin (Olivia), and Caelyn; great-grandson Yuvaan; sister Rosa Orellana (Mario); brother Mario Ramirez; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Julian Ramirez and Rosa Regatto Ramirez, in-laws Avery Coffey and Delphia Coffey, special animals Spike, Casper, Chomper, and Einstein, and siblings Joseph, Isidora, Eugenio, Julio, Pete, and Azuzena.
