Gene Arthur Stern

Gene “Geno” Arthur Stern, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 16, 2019. He was born on September 18, 1936, in Indianapolis to the late Richard and Eleanor (Speake) Stern. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1955.

Gene is known for his great personality and bright smile. He was always happy and joking with everyone. Most people would call Geno selfless, doing anything for anyone. For most of his life, Geno was a hardworking cab driver, who knew the airport like the back of his hands. He enjoyed watching football and basketball, and making late night runs to Steak-n-Shake with his family.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above; along with his brothers, Donald Stern and Richard Stern. He is survived by his children, Steven Stern, Debbie Neff, and Jennifer Whitlow (Rob); grandchildren, Jordan Stern, Tyler Stern, Seth Christianson, James Caleca, Josh Whitlow (Danielle), Ashley Whitlow, and Justin Whitlow; great-grandsons, David and Silas Whitlow; and sisters, Marcia Davis (Don) and Patricia Stern; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 1pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2018 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with visitation starting at 12pm until the start of the service. Entombment to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
