George A. Covington, born on November 24, 1953, in Anderson, Indiana, left this world on February 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege to know him.

 A proud graduate of the Frankton High School Class of 1972, George embarked on a career as a Tool & Die maker, sharing his expertise and dedication in various workplaces throughout his life.

Throughout his younger years, George found immense joy in the world of sports. He not only enjoyed playing but also took great pride in coaching, imparting his passion and knowledge to the next generations. His vibrant spirit was a beacon of light for his family and friends, characterized by his funny, tough, and wise nature. George was truly devoted to his family and took great pride in his role as a grandfather. He shared a special bond with his grandchildren, notably cherishing moments with Isaiah. Watching old television shows together and reliving classic episodes brought them immeasurable joy and laughter.

George's personality shone brightly in all aspects of his life. A proud member of the Frankton American Legion, he embodied the values of service and community. His devotion to family was unwavering, and his laughter and wisdom filled every room he entered. There are countless wonderful memories that speak to the great times shared with George, making it difficult to capture the full essence of his impact. Each memory is a testament to a life well-lived and a heart that loved deeply.

George is survived by his wife of 19 years, Paula Covington; children Evan Covington and Crissy Short (Anthony); grandchildren Isaiah Covington, Annabella McNichols, Alexis Short, AJ Short, Aliyah Short, Addison Short; mother Flo Covington; siblings Paula Walker (Tolliver), Diane Fithian, Clarence Eugene Covington; nieces and nephews Larry Brook, James Fithian, Bobbie Shephard, Justin Finton, Clarence W. Covington, Dalton Brook; several other great-nieces and nephews; special friend Greg McClintick. 

He is preceded in death by his father Wallace W. Covington and grandparents George R. Covington, Dortha A. Walton, Clarence G. Pettigrew, and Grace M. Harless. 

Friends and family are invited to celebrate George’s life on February 21, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Both events will be held at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services - Anderson, 504 W 9th St, Anderson, IN 46016.

George A. Covington will be fondly remembered for his humor, strength, and the profound love he poured into his family. His presence will be sorely missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he gave so freely.
