Gerald L. McDaniel

Gerald L. McDaniel, 76, of Anderson passed away October 4, 2024. He was born January 3, 1948, in Muncie, Indiana the son of the late Charles and Ella (Leathers) McDaniel. He married Rene’ Goughenour on August 3, 1974. 

Gerald proudly and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 until 1969. Shortly after returning home from serving his country in the Vietnam War, he started his career with General Motors. He worked in many roles in his 37 year career upon his retirement in 2006 as a machine operator. Gerald enjoyed spending time in the outdoors; racing motorcycles, hunting, and fishing on his boat “Uncle Bob”. He appreciated a cold beer and a sunset at the beach. He was a dedicated husband, father, papaw, and friend who will be forever missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rene’ McDaniel; three children, Cory (Jaami) McDaniel, Chad (Kristen) McDaniel, and Dawn Haney; six grandchildren, Hannah, Kylee, Brock (Gabriella), Tyler, Carder, and Cohen; four great grandsons, Ryker, Milo, Myles, and Ripp; sister-in-law, Pauletta Smith; niece, Kendra (Jeremiah) Scott; nephew, David Richman; son-in-law, Lee Haney; and his canine companion, Katie. He was preceded in passing by his sister, Sue Goodman; special cousin, Jim Carder; and aunt Ertha Carder.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 504 West Ninth Street, Anderson. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow the services at Hawk Cemetery in Yorktown. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Protection League.
