Glenn Davis Dowdy, Jr. was taken home to the Lord Sunday April 21, 2024 while riding in the backseat of his mother Linda’s car. Glenn was born (July 28, 1967) in the backseat of his father’s car on the way to the hospital and delivered by his grandmother Magdeline Dowdy. And he quietly (no moans or groans) dropped his head to one side and since his mother thought he had just fallen asleep she pulled over and put a pillow under his head so he wouldn’t get a crook in his neck. After his first overnight stay at her home Linda was returning Glenn to the Nursing facility where he had been living for the last 3 months due to health issues. BUT when he went home to the Lord he was riding in the backseat of a car driven by his mother Linda.
Mom Linda nicknamed him Man because as a child he had to go through a lot of painful treatments as a Cancer (Neuroblastoma) patient and he didn’t cry so she called him her “little Man”.
Glenn attended school in the Indianapolis Public School System and the Warren Township School System where he graduated from Warren Central High School as Valedictorian of his LD class. He participated in; school work programs, cross country track, tennis, and many other activities to stay busy.
Glenn’s wife of 23 years Karen Renee Dowdy went home to the Lord January 6, 2024. They are both survived by their son Brennan Dowdy. Others who remain to cherish his memory: mother & stepdad Linda (David) Rich, father Glen Dowdy sr., grandmother; Magdeline Dowdy, sisters; Madelyn Croney, Delbia (Derrick Sr.) Jones, Tiffany Turner, Bryana Rich and brother Bryant Rich. Many nieces and nephews and two great nephews. Uncle Ray (Debra) Dowdy, Aunts; Pamela Robinson, and Kristy Thames. Many cousins and other family and special friends. And a Prayer Group who will miss him “The United Prayer Family” that he and sometimes Karen (while she was still with us) prayed with almost every day by phone!
