Helga Modlin

Helga Modlin, 88, peacefully descended into Heaven on April 8, 2025, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. A woman of unwavering faith, Helga lived a life full of love, grace, and devotion.

Born on March 6, 1937, Helga dedicated much of her life to the U.S. Postal Service and took great pride in her work. She was a longtime member of Eastern Star and attended New Horizons United Methodist Church in Anderson, Indiana, where she enjoyed Bible study and fellowship with her church family. Even as a child, she carried her Bible to school—a reflection of the deep faith that guided her through every season of life.

Helga had a love for music, the beach, traveling, and most of all, for her family. She was known for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and strength rooted in God.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Sherry(Billy) Gibbs-Chedville; grandchildren Crystal Petersen, Jerry Gibbs, Stephen (Rebeccah) Gibbs, and Kayla Gibbs; and several cherished great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Charlie Modlin, and her sons Earl Gibbs, Jerry Gibbs, and Ronny.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, both at New Horizons United Methodist Church in Anderson, Indiana. Reverend Dale Mendenhall will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Helga’s life and legacy.
