Herbert V. Schmidt

Herbert Schmidt, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away December 27^th, 2020. He was born in Indianapolis, November 18^th, 1937, to parents Harry and Helen Schmidt.

Herbie proudly served his country in the United States Airforce, serving overseas in Japan twice.

Over 50 years ago, Herbie married the love of his life, Margie, in Tennessee.

He worked as foreman for GR Wilson Construction for many years, a job he excelled at and enjoyed very much.

Herbie was a strong, spirited gentleman who enjoyed life, and loved his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, swimming, camping, and fishing as often as possible. Herbie was a handyman. Having worked in construction most of his career, he knew how to fix about anything. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and all his family.

Herbie is survived by his children Eddy Spears and Joyce Vanderpool; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; his siblings Mary Givens, John Schmidt, Ralph Schmidt, Gerald Schmidt, and Donna Carlson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margie; children Herbert E. Spears and Betty E. Headrick; and siblings Irene, Geraldine, Carl, Charles, Harold, Susan, Willa, and Rosalee.

Herbie will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
