Jack Leroy Wright, age 88, of Lizton, Indiana, passed away March 20, 2025.
Jack was a man who found peace in working in his woodshop. He was an excellent woodworker, and his skills were demonstrated in his making of decorative bowls and other art pieces. By trade, he was a cabinet maker. Jack retired from Indiana Public Schools in 2000 from his position as the foreman of the Building Maintenance Department.
Jack was also an avid gun enthusiast. He won many awards for his marksmanship at quick draw tournaments sponsored by Single Action Shooting Society. Jack was also an adventurist who learned to fly planes and then earned his pilot license. He was proud of that license and his ability to fly small planes for personal enjoyment. On the ground, his time was spent with his beloved Samoyed dogs, which he trained and showed in many dog shows.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Tressa Wright. He is survived by his brothers: Richard Wright of Westfield and Donald (Irene) Wright of Indianapolis and their respective families. Jack also leaves behind his companion, Diane Bettencourt and her family.
