Jackie Sue Asher Haynes, passed from a later life of pain and discomfort at home in the early morning hours of September 13, 2020. She passed squeezing the hand of her significant other, a sign she knew he was by her side as he had been through all her health struggles.
Jackie was a true, “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” having been born in Hazard County, Kentucky on March 24, 1959 to Taylor and Chloe Asher. Her father worked the mines until his health began to fail and the family moved to Indianapolis for better job opportunities.
Jackie attended grade and middle school in the Indianapolis area and finished high school while living in Oklahoma at Oklahoma Community College.
Jackie was quick to get upset, but even quicker to forgive. It was impossible to keep her upset with anyone. She loved entertaining family and friends, including a mean Patsy Cline rendition. Jackie’s only negative was her inability to walk past a scratch off lottery ticket machine without buying at least one ticket.
Jackie is pre-deceased by her parents and sisters, Linda and Gaye. She is survived by her significant other, Mark Frieden; sister Doris Robertson; brothers, Taylor, Jr. (Debbie) and David; sons, Mike (Mandy), David, and Charlie (Katie.) Grandsons, Mike, Austin, and Hudson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special recognition must go to her sister, Doris and niece, Tanya Powell, who traveled from their homes in Florida and Louisville to aid in her care and be by Jackie’s side at the end.
Jackie will be remembered in a memorial service to be held October 10, 2020 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 46th and Illinois Streets. Guests will be received from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with a service to follow.
Face coverings and social distancing will be strictly enforced.
