Jalyn RayShawn Butts AKA “JJ “,”Bub” and “J-Booty” unexpectedly passed away on March 31,2021 at the young age of 21. Jalyn was born in Indianapolis, IN on December 2,1999 to parents, Melvin Butts Jr. and Jamie Barger.
Jalyn attended Franklin Central H.S where he played football. While in high school Jalyn worked various jobs. When he got older, he then began working in construction at Bowman Excavating. Jalyn attended various churches growing up with his family members.
Jalyn “J-Booty” as his mother Jamie called him is devastated by his loss. She will always cherish his big smile and infectious laugh. They would often joke about holes in his socks, she would laugh until she cried. They would always text back and forth and when together he would give her the biggest hugs and kisses. Jalyn and his father Melvin “Pops” who also loved him very much would spend time laughing and having talks about life and how he wanted him to be successful. He wanted Jalyn to be the best young man he could be. Jalyn would also spend a lot of time listening to music, playing video games with his brother Allan “Bub”, his cousin Jamal and many of his other cousins and friends. Jalyn also enjoyed getting to see his sister Makaylee “KK” and brothers Jaheim, Malik. Jalyn had the biggest smile and loved to make you laugh. He had a big heart that was full of love. Jalyn also spent a lot of time helping his “Paw” Joseph Gibson after the loss of his “Nan” Regina Gibson. Jalyn has been a blessing to have in all of our lives. He had special relationships with so many, he loved to love on his Aunts and make them laugh and would always tell them how pretty he thought they were. His passing has been devastating. His family and friends will miss him more than words can say.
Jalyn is proceeded in death by his grandmother Regina Gibson “Nan”, Great Grandfather Joseph Harris Jr, Uncle Billy Bowman “Dunk” and various great aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jalyn’s memory will forever be cherished by his parents, Melvin Butts Jr. ”Pops”, Jamie Barger ,brothers Allan Murray II ”Bub”, Malik Butts, Jaheim Butts, sister Makaylee Butts “KK”, Grandparents, Joseph Gibson ”Paw”, Melvin Butts Sr. “Paw Paw” and Sonya Butts “Maw Maw”, Great grandmothers Virginia Goldsberry and Florence Harris, Aunts, Freedom Brown (Ryan Brown), Cassie Barger, Sherese Butts, Uncle, Darius Butts and host of cousins, family and friends.
Visitation is from 11:30am to 1:30pm on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with the service to start at 1:30pm. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
