James Burl Capps

James Burl Capps, 73, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023. Born on August 25, 1950, in Burkesville, Kentucky, Burl was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.

In his early years, Burl was a skilled boxer and had a deep love for sports. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. In his later years, however, Burl most often could be found on the couch, enjoying his favorite TV shows and playing with his beloved dog.

Burl dedicated 20 years of his life to his career as a welder at AM General. His commitment and skill in his profession were commendable, and he made a lasting impact on those with whom he worked.

Burl will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, including his wife, Lori Capps; his son, Ryan Capps-White; his sister, Becky (Mack) Fishburn; his sister, Kathy (Amos) Mills; his sister, Sonnie (Mark) Rogers; his brother, Joe (Erin) Willard; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Granville Capps; his mother, Edna Willard; his brother, Stevie Capps; and his daughter, Kelly Capps.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 1:00-2:00pm, and the funeral service will immediately follow the visitation. The services will be held at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Home located at 1604 W. Morris St. in Indianapolis, Indiana. The family kindly requests that contributions be made in lieu of flowers to assist with the arrangements.
