James Darryl Slagle 78, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on May 10, 2020.
He was the son of James Slagle and Norma Baldwin. James had 4 sisters; Lynda Fowler, Jennifer Baldwin,
Melody Baldwin, and Jacqueline Riggs. James fell in love with Phyllis Shrum at a very young age. They got married
and had many happy years together. He was a BELOVED father to step-son John Winchester, and adored and loved his
grandson Drew Winchester. James had several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews as well he cherished.
James worked for Olin Brass as a machinist, until he retired. He admired the outdoors so much he even started a
landscaping business of his own he did on his free time. Out of everything James enjoyed doing his 2 favorite
activities where taking trips to the beach, and visiting the Indianapolis Zoo. Know James you knew his extreme
hilarious sense of humor and his one of a kind human nature. Hints the nickname his family and friends
gave him “Slages”. You could also hear family and friends calling out Darryl. He was a caring unique man
who will be missed by many. He has touched the lives of not only his family, but friends, and co-workers as well.
James was proceded in death by his wife Phyllis Slagle (Shrum), and 2 sisters; Melody Baldwin and Jacqueline Riggs.
All services were private. James final resting place is Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN
