James Ferguson

November 17, 1945 — January 27, 2018

James Ferguson was born in Chester, Pennsylvania on November 17, 1945 to Frank and Luvenia Ferguson. James was educated through the Chester Public School system from which he graduated as President of the Class in 1965.

James accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Luke Christian Community Church under Bishop J. Williams, Pastor in Pennsylvania. He sang in the Young Adult Choir. Upon moving to Indianapolis he became a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Curtis L. Vance where he was a Deacon and also sang in the choir.

Upon graduation, James enlisted in the Air Force branch of the Armed Services of the United States where he was stationed in Peru, Indiana. Following his service he later relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana. He was employed by Chrysler and Kroger Bakery. He also held many odd jobs because he was a hard worker.

James loved the Lord and loved attending church. He never missed a night of getting down on his knees to pray. He was a happy and fun loving person. He enjoyed taking long walks with his wife, good western movies and he loved to eat home cooked meals!
James Ferguson departed this life on January 27, 2018. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerome, George and Robert Ferguson and sister, Dora Ferguson-Brown and stepson, Alexander Anderson, brother-in-law, Kirk Moss.

James leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sheila Moss-Ferguson; Sons, Daryl (Becci) and Michel (Kelly) Ferguson; stepsons, Steven Anderson, Daniel Moss and Melvin Johnson; stepdaughters, Alexandria and Melody Moss; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Sally Ferguson-Harris and Blandena Forcer (Cyril) of Chester, PA, Merith Yuille of Philadelphia, PA and Bettie Williams-Audrey (Bernard) of North Carolina; father and mother in-law, Phillip and Leona Moss; brother in-laws, James, Terry, and Dexter Moss; sister in-law, Nola Jean Boyd; long time best friend, Reginald L. Rawls, F.D.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A Home Going will be at 10am on Tuesday, February 6, 2017 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 5325 E. 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN, with visitation starting at 9am until the time of service. Burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
