James “Jim” Yaney
64, of Indianapolis,passed away November 7, 2016.
Survived by wife, Teresa Yaney and family, Emily (John)Perkins, Brian (Kristen) Conway, Jennie (Dave) Schilling, Tonia Yaney; 7grandchildren, Kenzi, Sam, Morgan, Sarah, Riley, Johnny, and Marissa; andsister, Bernadette (Jon) Clark. He ispreceded in death by his parents and son, Jimmy.
As a motorcyclistenthusiast, Jim served as State Safety Officer for Harley Davidson, hosted “Safety101” for Steel Horse, founded the Motorcycle Safety Memorial, instructed theMotorcycle Safety Course, and managed Harley Davidson Riders Edge ofBloomington.
Achieving the rankof Lieutenant, Jim served with the Indianapolis Fire Department for 30years. He received numerous awards andhonors throughout his career on the Fire Department culminating with the Peer LeadershipAward in 2012.
Prior to the fire department, Jim served his countryhonorably in United States Air Force as a firefighter from 1972 – 1976.
Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm on Friday, November 11, 2016at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence, 5215 N. ShadelandAvenue.
Funeral service will be 11:30am on Saturday, November 12,2016 at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Miller Cemetery, Middletown,Indiana.
We encourage all motorcyclists to ride in procession to thecemetery following the service.
