James "Mat" Matison Valentine Jr.

James “Mat” M. Valentine Jr., age 49, of Pendleton, passed away Saturday November 20, 2021 at St. Vincent 86^th St. in Indianapolis. He was born October 6, 1972 in West Monroe, LA, the son of James and Sue Valentine.

Mat moved to Clyde, TX in 1981. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1990 then moved to Indiana. Mat was mentored by his granddad and learned how to make it through life because of those skills he was taught. Mat always took care of his family, starting with his mom and little sisters, and continued with his little family in Indiana. He worked at Theinenman Construction, Inc. as a shop supervisor. He loved four wheeling, hunting, football, and Nascar. He was a wonderful person who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mat is survived by his son Cameron Valentine (Ciara) of Markleville, IN; girlfriend Theresa Cook; sisters Karla Davis (Scott) of Baird, TX and Charlotte Brooks of Clyde, TX; nephews Preston Davis of Baird, TX and Ryan and Kallan Brooks of Clyde TX; brother and sister-in-law Kevin and Kerri Davis of Baird, TX; aunt Linda Sullivan of Nashville, TN; cousins Trevor and Nathan Sullivan of Nashville, TN; mother of son Claudia Valentine; and best friend Mike Merchant of Markleville.

He is preceded in death by his mother Sue Valentine and father James Valentine, and grandparents Bill and Violet Burnam.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation services were handled through Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
