James R.Farmer, 87, Anderson, passed away at St. Vincent’s Heart Hospital July 15,2016.
James was born to Myles and Esther Farmer March 25, 1929 in Vincennes. He graduated from St. Mary’s in 1947.
James wasa veteran of the United States Army, honorably discharged in 1952. He married Dorothy Stamm in 1954. He worked at Eavey’s Supermarket, York News, Cook’s Supermarket, and Anderson Banking Company retiring in 1993.
James worked the concession stand at the Wigwam for several years. He enjoyed photography,playing cards, puzzles, and birds. He is known for his jokes and stories.
Left to mourn James are his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Teresa (Dave Leisure) Farmer and Barbara Partin; son, James (Wendy) Farmer; grandchildren, Josh and Ryan Partin,and Noah Farmer; daughter-in-law, Roberta Perkins Farmer; in-laws, Bill Gibson,Virgil Stamm, Junne Stamm, and Doris and John Kane; and many family members.
Preceding James in death are his parents; children, Maralene, John and Joe Farmer;sisters, Mary Elizabeth Farmer, Norma Lennartz, Catherine Gibson, and Mary Frances Johnson; many in-laws, and several other family members.
Visitation is July 21 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Mass will be at St. Mary’s on July 22 at10:00 AM with burial at Maplewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. VincentDePauw.
The family thanks St. Vincent’s in Anderson and Carmel for their care of James.
