Jim is survived by his wife Carla, whom he married on March 2, 1991. He is also survived by his furry companion Emma. He is also survived by his son Todd Groves; step-son Nathan (Kylie) Poff; 6 grandchildren Matthew Poff, Elijah Poff, Braxton Poff, Libby Cleary, Abby (Vaughn) Rector, and Kaylee Groves; special great-granddaughter Evelyn Grace Rector; brothers Frank (Silvana) Groves, Edna Summerall, Francis King; several nieces and nephews; The Scampy Thursday night crew; and the Saturday night OB Gang.
He is preceded in death by his brother Carl Groves, sister Helen Groves, stepson and step-daughter-in-law Scott and Josette Poff.
Jim retired from Firestone in 2002 after 20 plus years. When he was not spending time with his family, he enjoyed spending time with his brother Frank. He loved working on different projects with him. He also enjoyed beekeeping and producing honey.
Jim was known as “Wolfie” by his co-workers at Firestone, his Scampy and OB friends. At home he was known as “Poppy”, not only by his grandchildren but by the neighborhood kids, the grandkids school friends, and most of their parents.
Jim will be remembered every day when the honeybees come out to fly freely and remind us that he too is now free.
