Jane Connor Happel enjoyed a long healthy life as a native of Indianapolis.
Growing up in the Butler -Tarkington area, she maintained a close relationship with her parents David Connor and Katherine Logan Connor and siblings Catherine, Mary, Helen, David, Joan, John, Claire.
Jane achieved a BS in chemistry from St Mary of the Woods College and worked at Mallory’s as an analytical chemist before marrying Hermann. Dedication as a homemaker and mother absorbed her considerable energy for many years. Once children were in higher education, she was able to offer her talents as Secretary to the Indiana chapter of American Society of Mechanical Engineers while Hermann was president. Jane was also a founding member of the Indianapolis Opera Company Guild and an active fund-raiser and volunteer for Indianapolis Museum of Arts and IMA Better Than New shop for many years.
Hermann and Jane had five children Stephen Happel, Kevin Happel, Maryliese Happel, Christopher Happel along with his wife Dana Conner Happel and their children Isabella and Amelia, and David Happel along with his wife Gail Bilyeu Happel and their children Erin and Luke.
Jane was a devout Catholic and a member of Christ the King parish. A celebration of Jane’s long and exemplary life will occur this summer.
