Janice Kay Stokes

Janice Jay Stokes, age 77, of Alexandria, passed away on August 24, 2022, at Community Hospital. She was born on April 27, 1945, to the late Mack Kermit Jaynes and Martha Elzonia (Woods) Phagen.

Janice was a firecracker in every sense of the word. She loved to play euchre, quite competitively, with her family and friends. She enjoyed dancing, listening to Elvis and country music, watching jeopardy and wheel of fortune, and shopping. Her grandchildren were her entire world. She was also a member of the Eagles in Alexandria. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Janice is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald Travis Stokes; children Daniel J. Baker (Teresa) and Tim Stokes (Linda); grandchildren Eric Baker, Jordan Baker (Andrea), and Trey Stokes (Mallorie); great-granddaughter Liana Baker and one due January 2023; niece Marlea George (Jeremy); and best friend Diane Beane.

She is preceded in death by her parents listed above and brother John Jaynes.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
