Our dear mother, Janie D. Zapata, age 70, passed away at her home on April 14, 2023. She was born on November 8, 1952, to David and Katherine Delgado.
Janie enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and helping others. Janie is remembered for taking care of her grandchildren and cooking. Her grandchildren enjoyed her rice the most. She was baptized on Easter Sunday and her homegoing was 5 days later.
Janie or “Chubie” as some close to her would call her, was loved for being present in their lives, always listening and giving advice. She was famously opinionated and at times, sharp-tongued. This was a trait she passed onto her daughters.
Janie moved to Indiana in December, despite disliking the cold, she enjoyed experiencing a new way of life. She attended Faith Church and was amazed by the love and acceptance she received. She was able to make at least one loving friendship with Chaplain Cindy Reynolds, whom she shared lots of stories and laughs with. Janie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Janie is survived by her husband Amadeo Zapata; daughters Angela Sandoval and Amanda Sandoval; grandchildren Sean Craver Jr., Michael Herrera, and Christopher Herrera. Loren Martinez, Jonathan Harlan, Sophia Sandoval, Mivida Juares, Eric Sandoval, Brenda Martinez, Jack Martinez, Jakob Martinez; great-grandchildren Sean L. Craver III, Emilia Craver, Joshua Martinez, Jordan Lamb; siblings Adam Delgado, Lydia Mejia, Sylvia Chross (Karl), Rudy Delgado Sr., and Erasmo Delgado.
She is preceded in death by her parents listed above, son Rudy Sandoval Jr. (Prepe), son Eric Sandoval, Uncle Ray Rangel, brothers Jimmy Delgado and David Delgado Jr.
