Jennifer Claire Parker

Jennifer Claire Parker, 76, of Fishers, passed away on her 76th birthday, September 25, 2021 in Noblesville, IN. She was born on September 25, 1945 in Knightstown, IN to the late Dwight and Onabelle (Moody) Parker. Jennifer graduated from Knightstown Academy in 1963. She worked in administration at the University of San Diego library and later in Indianapolis, at the downtown Indianapolis Public Library for many years, ultimately retiring from there.

Jennifer was a member of Garden Club, a Bible Study, the Indianapolis Zoo and Connor Prairie.

Jennifer loved to walk her dog and participated in several charity dog walks. She loved all kinds of animals and in particular loved bunnies and dogs usually choosing the runt of the litter. One time she rescued 5 kittens from a construction site, feeding them with a kitty cat baby bottle.

She is preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above; and her brothers Dwight Oscar Parker (Ossie) and Harrison Worley Parker, and her sister, Elizabeth Claire Hardin.

Jennifer is survived by her nephews, Tom Hardin (Nancy), Tim Hardin (Barbara) and David Parker as well as nieces, Christa Middleton (Peter), Mary Wilke (Juri), Lisa Parker, Janice Ellefson (Bryan). Her great nieces Kathy Hale (Evan) and Claire Johnson (Kevin) and their families were frequent visitors to Aunt Jennie. In addition, she had many great, great nieces and nephews.

Jennifer met her greatest friend, Barbara Tarker, at Parsons College in Iowa and they lived together off and on for the next 58 years. The family is grateful for the friendship they shared and the addition of Barbara to the group. She had many other friendships that she maintained her whole life, many from her roots in Knightstown. She always wanted to return to Knightstown to live as it was the place she identified the most as home.

There will be a memorial graveside service at 2pm on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown, IN. Cremation Arrangements provided by Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hamilton County Humane Society.

Jennifer will be remembered as a shining light of kindness and generosity, always the quiet servant who was first to help.
