Jerry Allan Long 87, was called home, passing away peacefully at Eskenazi Hospital on March 30, 2019, he was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 4, 1931.
Jerry was a longtime member of the Indianapolis deaf community, he retired from the Indianapolis Star & News in 1980. Jerry enjoyed life to the fullest, his greatest joy was his family and friends. Jerry was always busy doing things such as traveling, reading, quilting, crocheting, watching a good movie, attending live theater shows, and attending many events at the Greater Indianapolis Deaf Club.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Janet M. Long, his daughter, Verla A. Adams, his son Larry L. Long, and his parents Gertrude D. Burress, Jerome C. Long, his sister Suzanna A. Dennis, and brother David N. Long-Easton, and his grand children, Guy W. Butler and Marissa L. Long, and great grand child Lawerence P. Kelly.
Jerry is survived by his daughters Loretta (Mike) Byers, Darlene Long, his son Dennis (Jaime) Long, Son-in-law Herman Adams, his sister Rochelle Hargis, 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren.
Jerry was a son, husband, father, grandpa, he is deeply loved and will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts.
Services will be on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 1604 W. Morris St., Indianapolis, Indiana with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon followed by burial at Clayton Cemetery, in Clayton, Indiana.
