Joann (Craig) Chambers was born September 21, 1929 in Anderson to William and Flora Lavon Craig. She passed away on June 24, 2021.

She was a graduate of Anderson High School, Class of 1947. On February 4th, 1950 she married the boy next door, Carl Chambers. Together they raised three daughters Christy, Pam, and Jill, and one son Jeffrey. Joann was an avid reader. She was a bible scholar, and graduated Bible Study Fellowship. She loved to spend her time gardening and was a wonderful cook. Joann worked at Delco Remy and was an office manager at Carl Chambers Real Estate until she retired in 1989. Joann was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School from nursery to adulthood.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Alma Montgomery, Helen Baer; brothers Delmar, Wilbur, Earl, and Dick; daughter Jill and son-in-law Tim Gale.

Joann is survived by her husband Carl; daughters Christy Gale of Pendleton and Pam Miller (Jeff) of Mokena, IL; son Jeffrey Chambers of Anderson; and brother Walter Craig (Janice) of Middletown; grandchildren Michael Gale (Meggie) of Noblesville, Benjamin Gale (Annie) of Markleeville, Marcy Secor (Ryan) of Mokena, IL, Austin Miller (Melissa) of Mishawaka; and great-grandchildren Emma, Lauren, Blake, Kylie, Ashelyn, Layla, Jovani, Evan and Dillon.

Cremation was handled through Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson, located at 504 W. 9th St. Anderson, IN 46016.

A Graveside service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 11am at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Anderson First Church Building Fund.
