John David Garten

John David Garten, 82, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on June 10, 2022. He was born on July 25, 1939, in Beemer, Nebraska to the late Lionel and Greta (Akers) Garten. John graduated from Huntington High School in 1956. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. John worked as a Draftsman at Fort Harrison and at the VA Hospital for many years, retired from the VA Hospital. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

John married Donna Jean Garten on October 23, 1965, in Huntington, West Virginia. They were together until Donna’s passing in 2019.

John loved to travel.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, mentioned above; 7 of his brothers and sisters; and grandson, Eric Sebastion Fox.

John is survived by his children, Agena Biggerstaff, Lisa White, Jeff Garten and David Garten; grandchildren, Elijah White, Aryonna White; 2 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is from 12pm to 2pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue. There will be a graveside service at 2:30pm Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
