John Edward Turner, Jr., went missing in 1988, when he was 61 years old. On July 22, 2013, John’s body was found in Hendricks County, IN, but was not identified as him until almost 10 years later. John’s family grieved his disappearance for over 30 years, and are humbled to finally be able to lay him to rest in peace with his wife.
John was born on January 10, 1927, in Michigan to the late John and Georgia Anne (Bunch) Turner, Sr. He graduated from high school and received his Bachelor’s Degree. John served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a car salesman, and was known for his gambling techniques. John was an Irvington resident for many years and was a wonderful friend to many people.
He is preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above; along with his wife, Norma Jean; and children, John Turner III, Julie Turner, and Steve Turner.
John is survived by his daughters, Kim Turner and Jane Spaulding.
A memorial service will be held for John at 2pm on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a gathering starting at 1pm. Burial to follow for both John and his wife, Norma Jean, at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to John’s daughter, Kim Turner, to help with the costs of final expenses.
