John "Jerry" Weitzel

John Jerome Weitzel, 68, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 17, 2021. John, otherwise known as Jerry, was born on February 4, 1953 in Springfield, IL to the late Carl Thomas and Mary Alice (Stevens) Weitzel. Jerry graduated from Springfield High School in 1971 in Springfield, IL.

Jerry worked various jobs throughout his life. At Sears Roebuck as parts manager out of high school in Springfield, IL; a floral maintenance job in Park City, IL; night manager at Greg’s Our Place in Indianapolis, IN; Kennicott Bros. floral warehouse in Indianapolis, IN; and his last job as being an Uber Driver in Indianapolis before Covid.

Jerry loved to be with family and friends, remodeling his home, and especially taking his dog, Jazz, for daily rides around town, as he would also call family and friends to describe the goings on in Indy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above, along with sisters, Mary Ellen VanAmburgh, Judy Weitzel; and brothers, Tom Weitzel and Don Weitzel.

Jerry is survived by his siblings, Sally King of Paducah, KY, Carol Wendling of Springfield, IL, and Rick Weitzel of Pawnee, IL; and sister-in-law, Cherrie Weitzel of Auburn, IL. Jerry also had many nieces and nephews, Glena Weegens, Judy Roach, Lisa Wendling (deceased), Bill Wendling, Jim Wendling, Nicole Flynn, Jess Weitzel, John VanAmburgh, Jason VanAmburgh, Amber House, Zack Weitzel, Jeffrey Weitzel (deceased) and Josh Weitzel.
