John Manuel Chavez

John Manuel Chaves, age 87, of Anderson, passed away at his home on March 5, 2020. He was born on October 15, 1932 to the late Refugio and Juanita (Martinez) Chavez.

John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. After retiring from General Motors after many years, John enjoyed camping, fishing, and being outdoors with his family. John would lend a hand to anyone in need and was truly loved by everyone. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Ellen Chavez; children John Chavez, Mary Ann Garcia, and Andrew Chavez (Mary Ann); 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Alice Garcia; and friends Bobbie Chavez and Anita Page.

He is preceded in death by his parents listed above; and 2 grandchildren Rosemary Barron and Michael Garcia.

Private cremation services through Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson were chosen.
