John Thomas Craig

Brownsburg, Indiana

John Thomas Craig, 74, of Brownsburg, Indiana was received by God on August 28, 2020.  During his formative years he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the distinction of Eagle Scout.  John grew up on the north side of Indianapolis and graduated from Broad Ripple High School and was a graduate of I.U.P.U.I where he received his degree in criminal justice.  John retired in 1988 after 21 years of service with the Indianapolis Police Department with the rank of sergeant.  He then went on to work in the fraud department for several years and retired from Liberty Mutual.  His memberships include, College Park Church, a life member of the F.O.P. he was charter president of Brownsburg Optimist Club, he was active in the Hoosier Sail and Power Squadron, the Prospect Lodge 714 and Scottish Rite.  John loved sailing on Lake Michigan where he was the captain of the Tusen Takk. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Patricia “Nevil” Craig, Daughter, Ashley (Joe) Pearcy, son, John T. (Charleen) Craig Jr. Grandchildren, Leona, Wyatt, Maggie, Joshua, John Michael, and Isaac.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.  Memorial contributions may be made to Project Life Saver in care of Avon Police Department, http://projectlifesaverhendrickscounty.weebly.com

Service for John will be held on September 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at College Park Church 2606 West 96th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
