Johnnie Robert Smith

Johnnie Robert Smith, Age 63 of Anderson, passed away on January 13^th, 2020. He was born on July 17^th, 1956 to the late Robert F. Smith and Gerarla (Van Dingain) Smith.

Post-graduation from high school, Johnnie worked for meals on wheels in his younger years. After his time there, Johnnie worked as a bartender at Meadowbrook pizza, then for Delco Remy America for several years. Johnnie was always ready to lend a hand for anyone in need. He loved cooking, and especially loved animals. Johnnie had that happy-go-lucky spirit and didn’t know a stranger. He could drum up a conversation with just about anyone. Johnnie was book smart and was one of those people that didn’t have to study throughout school.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of 20+ years Paula Smith; step-son Jason Boots; sister Anna Lemerick (Gary); brother Mike Smith Sr. (Lorry); step-grandson Logan; nephews Mike Smith Jr. (Alisha) and Nathan Smith (Kristy); great-nieces Audrey, Delaney, and Kait; great-nephews Noah and Nik Smith; “adoptive daughter” Bobbie and special friend Ilene. Johnnie was a loving husband, father, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and special aunt from Belgium, Madelynn.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 2-4pm with a funeral service beginning at 4pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Pastor Tim Glidden will be officiating.
