Jolene Emilie Burkhard

Jolene Emilie (Souders) Burkhard passed away peacefully on May 14th, 2020. She was born July 3rd 1952 in Huntingburg, Indiana. She was the daughter of Justyne (Giesler) Souders and Alvin Souders.

Jolene graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1970 and went on to gain a business degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.

She had worked in real estate for many years and was one of the top selling real estate agents of her time.

She was a beloved mother and sister. Jolene loved spending time with her two twin girls, and she was happiest when she was visiting family back home in Jasper, Indiana, so much that she named her favorite dog “Jasper,” a rambunctious Boston Terrier.

She loved to play cards and watch old movies especially around Christmas time. She was an avid collector of all things antique, Longaberger baskets, and handmade quilts. She also loved scouring the shelves of thrift shops for unique finds. She enjoyed being outdoors and camping at various state parks.

She is survived by her two children Mollie (Joe) Stark, Claire Burkhard, sister Nanette (Brian) George and many close cousins on the Souders and Giesler sides of her family. She is preceded in death by her father Alvin L. Souders (Ossie) and mother Justyne (Giesler) Souders.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be announced.
