Joseph Leonard Mccauley

Joseph Leonard McCauley “Lennie” was born on 16 April 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jean and Marvin McCauley Sr. Lennie departed this world on 7 November 2019 at the Indianapolis VA Hospital.

At an early age Lennie became a member of St. John AME Church. He attended Indianapolis Public Schools.

In 1966 Lennie joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the height of the Vietnam War, serving in the 1st Battalion 9th Marine Unit called the “Walking Dead”. After completing his term of service in 1970, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps. After his military service, Lennie worked in construction.

Lennie was preceded in death by his wife Helen McCauley and son Joseph L. McCauley.

He is survived by his son Damon McCauley; his mother Jean Cross; brothers Charles and Roger McCauley, Jeffrey and Gerald Barbour; sisters Cheryl Hollins and Stephanie and Jeanette Barbour; along with a host of nieces, nephews and family members.
