Joseph Wayne Stamps

With deep sadness, we bid farewell to Joseph Stamps, 67, who passed away at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 16, 2024. He was born on July 26, 1956, in Fort Riley, Kansas.

Joseph dedicated 27 years of his life working as driver for the Department of Sanitation in Indianapolis. His commitment and hard work left a lasting impact on those around him. Outside of work, he found joy in various hobbies and interests. Joseph loved nothing more than spending time in the great outdoors camping and fishing. He was also a familiar at the local bowling alley where he participated in a bowling league. Every Saturday night was reserved for a friendly game of euchre.

Described as kind and loving, Joseph was a pillar of strength for his family. He embodied the qualities of a good father and grandfather, always putting his loved ones first. His romantic nature and unwavering faithfulness to his wife of 47 years, Vickie, served as an inspiration to many.

Joseph leaves behind a legacy cherished by those closest to him. Among the surviving family and friends are his beloved wife, Vickie Birge; his son, Jason (Sara Beth) Stamps; his mother, Jessie Cline; his brother, Leslie Stamps; his sister; Tammie Stamps; as well as grandchildren, Bailey and Justin. He is now reunited with his father Herbert Stamps, who passed before him.

A visitation service to honor Joseph's life will take place on June 20, 2024, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services located at 1604 W Morris St in Indianapolis. The visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on that day to celebrate the memories and stories that Joseph has left behind.

Joseph Wayne Stamps will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his warmth, love, and unwavering dedication to his family. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy lives on through those whose lives he touched profoundly.
