Joy Elaine Myers

Joyce “Joy” Elaine Myers, 79, of Lawrence Indianapolis, passed away on November 23, 2021.  She was born on February 15, 1942 in Carroll County, IN to the late Jake Widner and Marjorie (Gwinn) Childers.  She attended Lawrence Central High School, and later graduated.  Joy worked at RCA for several years.  And later became a caregiver for many children in Lawrence at her home.  Joy was a loving and caring mom to seven children.  She had several nieces, nephews, and a 14 year old fur baby named Preston.  Some of her favorite things were shopping, Friday night dinners with her family, and playing Bingo.

She is preceded in death by dad, Jake Widner; mom, Marjorie (Gwinn) Childers; sisters, Jill Childers and Jakie Childers; sons in law, Rick Pollard and Rocky Dowden; and grandson, Connor Pollard.

Joy is survived by her children, Stacy Fisher, Susan Dowden (Rocky), Jeff Simpson (Laura), Jon Simpson (Kimberlee), Rhonda Myers (Rick), Donna Weaver-Hudson, and Jennifer Myers; grandchildren, Elisha, Tiffany, Heather, Andrew, Courtney, Luke, Cameron, Sarah, Miranda, Rebecca, Karen, Brian “Rocky”, Savannah, Kaitlyn, Miranda, Liberty, Gabriel, Vayda, and Jon Michael; great grandchildren, Madison, Scott, Payton, Parker, Peyton, Caiden, Lexi, Noah, Salem, and Peter; and brother, Joe Childers.

Visitation will be from 10:30am to 11:30am on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a service to start at 11:30am. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
