Judith Anne Dilts, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on August 19, 2024, at the age of 83, after a brief illness. Born on February 3, 1941, in Anderson, Indiana, Judy's life was characterized by her unwavering kindness, independence, and her remarkable contributions to the world around her.
Judy graduated from Anderson High School Class of 1959, setting the foundation for a life dedicated to knowledge and service. She pursued higher education with fervor, achieving a master’s degree in business from Ball State University and a master's degree in library sciences from Vanderbilt. Her dedication to learning was matched only by her passion for sharing knowledge with others.
Early in her career, Judy found her calling as a librarian, a profession she cherished for most of her life. She was deeply committed to fostering a love of reading and learning in her community. Before embarking on this fulfilling career, she worked for the Girl Scouts, an experience that helped shape her sense of leadership and commitment to nurturing the younger generation. Judy also joined the Peace Corps, an accomplishment she held dear to her heart, as it aligned with her values of service and adventure.
Judy was not just a professional; she was a wonderful big sister, known for her kindness and support. Her independent spirit and leadership qualities inspired those around her. Friends and family alike cherished her for her ability to uplift and encourage others. In her leisure time, Judy delighted in traveling, with a particular fondness for cruises that allowed her to explore new horizons and create lasting memories. Her love for adventure was evident in the stories she would share, each reflecting her joy of life's experiences.
Judy is survived by her siblings Bill Dilts (Mary Linda), Betsy Williamson (John), Lois Ellis (Keith), Lenora Bolinger, and Pat Diltz (Jean); 13 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and many special friends from South Carolina.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph Eugene Dilts and Elizabeth Dilts; brother David Dilts; her loving partner Carrie Wasson; niece Shari Dilts; Aunt Lenora Hensley; and her special cat Jessie Bell.
Judith Anne Dilts leaves behind a rich legacy of compassion, learning, and adventure. Her impact on those who knew her will be forever felt, as she touched lives with her warmth and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
