Judy Ann Thompson was born in Indianapolis on April 2, 1940, and lived here throughout her life. After a short illness, she went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2025.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, and friend who is deeply missed by all who knew her.
Judy grew up in Mars Hill and graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1959. She participated in Glee Club and Student Council. Soon after graduation, she met Jim Thompson at Lafayette Heights Church of Christ. They married in 1962 and were married 51 years, after which she was widowed and resided in Mooresville until 2016.
She spent her time sewing, cooking, doing needlework, and as a homemaker and caretaker for her two children, Cheri and Barry. Later in life, Judy enjoyed spending time with her adult children and grandchildren, then great-grandchildren. It was her greatest joy to watch them do the many activities they kept busy with.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Stella and Luke Shrum; her husband, Jim Thompson; her son, Barry Thompson; her brothers, Charles and Nick Shrum; and her sister, Carol Burton.
Judy is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Cheri Reno; grandsons, Ryan and Derek Reno, Dylan (Diana) Reno; her great-grandsons, David and Isaac Reno; and sister, Sharon Fultz.
A celebration of life for Judy Ann Thompson will be held outdoors for family and close friends in early July.
