Karen Sue Howery

Karen Sue (Townsend) Howery, age 69, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at the Brickyard Healthcare Skilled Nursing Facility in Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Connersville, Indiana on October 21, 1954. Karen was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Connersville and sang on the Impact Team. When she moved to Indianapolis she attended the Church of Nazarene. She had been employed by IU Health for 30 years and later worked at FedEx.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gary Wayne Howery; her three children: Darrell W. Howery and his wife Yvonne (Reynolds) Howery, Of Rushville, IN, Jennifer S. Howery, of Indianapolis, IN, and Anthony B. Howery and his wife Cindy (Reynolds) Howery, of Greenwood, IN; Eleven grandchildren: Savannah M. (White) Moran, Amelia R. Baker, Matthew B. Howery, Michael W. Howery, Joshua A. Howery, Elijah B. Wolf, Jasmine N. Howery, Tyler M. Howery, Sarah J. Howery, Katelyn M. Howery, Makayla R. Howery; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Oliver (Carole) Townsend of Surprise, AZ and Gregory (Kathy) Townsend of Sheridan, IN; four sisters: Renie Caldwell of Connersville, IN, Teresa (James) Kelley of Bowling Green, KY, Vivian (Dillon) Frost of Indianapolis, IN and Sharon (Ken) Frost of Greenfield, IN; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sarah Susan “Suddie” Townsend, sister, Wanda M. Waters, and a brother, Lonnie C. Townsend; four nephews: Jeffrey R. Townsend, Kevin W. Waters, Kenneth M. Waters, Daniel J. Caldwell; three nieces: Juanita G. Waters, Katherine S. Waters, Kimberly K. Townsend; as well as one sister-in-law, June Townsend, brother-in-law James Caldwell and brother-in-law Mike Waters.
