Karen Sue Worl, 75, of Indianapolis, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 26, 2023, while doing her favorite pastime watching FoxNews. She was born on October 13, 1947, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Robert R. and Geraldine “Esther” (Hill) Worl. Karen graduated from Arlington High School in 1963 at the age of 16 and attended Milligan College. She worked as an insurance adjustor, retiring in 2016 from Indiana Farmers Insurance. Karen last attended Fortville Christian Church.
Karen loved her nephews, niece, great-nephews and great-nieces, as though they were her own. She was one of their biggest supporters doing her best to be present for every sport/performance/life event.
Karen enjoyed working with youth in the church. She led Bible Bowl and Whirly Birds, volunteered during countless Vacation Bible Schools, where it was normal for her to be called Aunt Karen by all the children.
Karen was the main caretaker of her mother for 17 years. They loved to travel all over the US, particularly enjoying Branson, MO, Gulfport, MS, Frankenmuth, MI, Navarre Beach FL, and Las Vegas, NV.
Karen loved people, and in true Hoosier fashion could strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere, especially the grocery checkout lane. If you ever had one of these encounters with her, you would quickly come to love her laughter. Karen was dedicated, and hard-working. Many times, you might find her working late into the evening and even weekends, because she loved what she did and wanted to help her clients. It is a proven fact that she was able to work all those hours due to her love of Diet Dr. Pepper and unsweetened Iced Tea. Tea in which she made sure she had her own pink sweetener in every purse or coat pocket she owned, in case of emergency. After she retired, she was employed part-time at PetSmart to pamper her beloved dog Jazzy, at a discounted rate, and talk your ear off while she checked you out at the register. She liked playing card and board games with her crowning achievement, guessing the correct answer, Mickey Mouse, in the game “20 Questions” without a single clue given.
She is preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above. Karen is survived by her brother, Robert R. Worl Jr. (Susan Nesbitt) of Fishers, IN; nephew, Rob Worl (Courtney), children Isabel, Conner, Adyson, and Olivia of Hilton Head Island, SC; nephew, Ryan Worl (Heather), children Declan, Averley, and Truitt of McCordsville, IN; niece Stacy Worl, child Stone of Indianapolis, IN; and her precious Boston Bulldog Jazzy.
There will be a short family led service at Washington Park North Cemetery, 2706 N. Kessler Blvd. W Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46228 on June 18th at 5 pm in the main chapel.
