Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Johnson, 75, passed away on February 12, 2025, at Community Hospital after a brief illness. Born on January 16, 1950 in Marion County to Robert and Ruby Johnson, Kenny lived a life full of adventure, service, and dedication to those he loved.
Kenny had a passion for traveling, riding his motorcycle, and camping. He was an avid NASCAR fan, often traveling to different races to experience the thrill firsthand. His love for helping others was evident throughout his life, as he devoted himself to public service. Kenny was an extremely hard worker from the day he could, until the day he couldn’t. He retired as a volunteer firefighter, reserve police officer, and EMT. Kenny also worked as a security officer at Community Hospital. He retired from General Motors after 30 years and worked as a truck driver for Carter Express.
Kenny especially loved supporting his children and grandchildren in their sports and activities. One of his greatest joys was being involved in Boy Scouts with his son Brad, ensuring that every child who wanted to participate had the opportunity. Kenny enjoyed attending Madison Park Church of God. Kenny also cherished the simple joys in life, like gathering with his McDonald's crew—a group of close friends, including Kenny Brown—where they would spend hours talking, sharing stories, and filling the room with laughter.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Lana Patrice Johnson; his children, Brad Hope and Robbie Johnson; his stepchildren, Andrew Rainer, Aaron Rainer, and Kristen (Jordan) Ewart; and his grandchildren, Christopher Dooley, Cody Dooley, Charles Johnson Jr., Andrew Johnson, and Jayden and Jackson Ewart. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Diana) Johnson, Pamela Johnson Shreve (Joe Hargrove), Shiela (Parvin) McBride, and Anna Brown (late husband, Larry); as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren; we can't forget Kenny's two sidekicks (chihuahuas) Minnie and Justice. Kenny loved his fur kids.
Kenny was proceeded in death by his son Charles Johnson Sr.; Grandson Robert “RJ” Johnson Jr.; Siblings Randy Johnson and Mike Johnson; and Parents Robert and Ruby Johnson.
Service of Remembrance will be held on February 20, 2025, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM.
Kenny’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and service will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
