Kenneth "Ken" Mehrlich

December 21, 1949 — August 23, 2024

Indianapolis

Kenneth (age 74) the Lover, not the Fighter left to be with the angels on Friday August 23, 2024, at 2:45 pm at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis due to a lifelong illness.

I was diagnosed with a fatal kidney disease in 1982 and was told I only had 5 years to live. The disease caused many obstacles in my life and I always “Trusted in the Lord” to see me through. Even though I had many health issues of my own I was a very big advocate of my brother Lee who had Cerebral Palsy and was nonverbal. This gave me joy to bring love and smiles to his life. I took my brother to a bliss conference and helped teach bliss so he could communicate with everyone else.

Growing up my parents installed Faith, Love, and Family into me. I knew there was still something missing in my life, I then met the love of my life even though I was nervous she took on our relationship knowing that my health issues were present and did nothing but embrace me and love me like there was no tomorrow. We got married in June of 1995 and it was the happiest day of my life. I thought life couldn’t get any better until God blessed me with the gift of life to my two beautiful daughters Ashley and Amanda. My heart was filled with pure happiness and Joy. My disease took over and I had one of the best jobs God could allow, I became a stay-at-home father. I lived for my children and the love of my life. My family grew and my daughter gave me a son (Jose) when she got married. In 2009 God then again blessed me with my first Grandson Cameron who light up my life. I continued to be blessed with four Granddaughters (Eva, Aubry, Olivia and Cassie.) My family became my rock, my everything, I could never ask for more. I Trusted in the Lord and he delivered.

I am preceded in death by my mother Myra Mehrlich (Nov. 1993), Father Gerald Mehrlich (April 2000), and My brother Lee Mehrlich (July 2018.) I am survived by My wife Gail, Daughters Ashley and Amanda, Son in Law Jose, my 5 pride and joy grandkids, my two brothers Tommy (Darla) and Pat (Deb) and my five nephews.
