Larry L. Comparet-Helms

Larry L. Comparet-Helms, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 20, 2020, after a short fight with cancer. Larry worked as a firefighter for the Indianapolis Fire Department, Station #1, for 35 years (1971-2006). Larry loved being a firefighter, but he enjoyed even more being a retired firefighter. In retirement, Larry spent his time traveling, fishing, spending time with this family, and sitting in his garage, drinking beer and smoking, while watching Nascar Racing. Larry was so proud of the wonderful adults his children have become.
Larry is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ann Comparet-Helms; daughter, Jenne (Jared) Youtsey; sons, Dustin Helms and Jeff Helms; grandchildren, Zavier, Ella, and Anna Youtsey; sisters, Lois Brown and Linda (Richard) Garrity; sister-in-law, Nancy Helms; nephews, Dwayne and Todd Garrity; and nieces, Cindy Redmond and Natalie Granger. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cash and Mary Helms, brother, Jerry Helms; brother-in-law, Carroll Brown; and nephew, Lance Brown.
Visitation will be from 10am to 11am on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a service to start at 11am. Burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
