Leslie Neal Mccoy

September 2, 1956 — November 22, 2016

Sixty years ago(September 2nd, 1956 to be exact), Leonard and Louise (neé Brettnacher)McCoy brought Leslie Neal McCoy into the world in Lafayette, IN. He grew up in Battleground, IN and became an Eagle Scout. In 1974, he graduated from William Henry Harrison High School and moved on to pursue a degree at Purdue University. At Purdue, he was a member of the drum core and was one of the crew for the World’s Largest Bass Drum. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 1981.

He worked in food service from a young age and told his daughters it was a great industry because there was always something to eat. He began his career as an accountant

for Crystal Catering and worked his way to being a Controller for A Classic Party Rental and Encore Catering.

He had two daughters, Rachel and Stephanie, who he loved to talk about to anyone who would listen. In September of 2016, his oldest, Rachel, married and he gained a son, Kyle Robison, and grandson, Liam. On July 11, 2015, he married Jane(neé Pozek) on what was later described as the “best day ever.”

He was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in June of 2016 and died on November 22nd,

2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Louise, and his sister, Lona Grieg. He is survived by his wife, daughters, son, and grandson, siblings Laurie Lewis, Leonard (wife Mariela) McCoy, and Lenora (husband Alan) Felix, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He loved golf, laughter, cards, and time with family and friends. He was a numbers guy and knew more about Excel than any person should. He was resourceful and handy and a wannabe MacGyver. He touched the lives of many, who already miss him dearly. His relatively short battle with cancer is a reminder that nothing is guaranteed. In the words of one of his favorite bands, the Allman Brothers, make sure you “ain’t wastin’ time no more, ‘cause time goes by like hurricanes and faster things.”

A memorial will beheld Friday, November 25th from 2-5 pm at the Willows on Westfield(6729 Westfield Blvd, Indianapolis, IN 46220). In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), the American Brain Tumor Association (www.abta.org), or favorite charity.
