Leslie C. Tolliver Sr., aged 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Anderson, Indiana, on March 28, 2024, with his devoted daughter, Monica, by his side. Born on May 18, 1945, in Fairfield, Illinois, to John Tolliver and Genevieve Putney, Leslie lived a life marked by robust relationships and humor.

After being diagnosed in 2018 his daughter would say it was “her and dad against the world” while battling the 3 differenti types of cancer.

A special bond with best friend (65 years) Jack Stanley and Jack Cope made sure Les always knew he could count on them no questions asked no matter the time of day or night.

Leslie was proceeded in death by his sister, Judith A. Merrit (Bruce) and 6 other siblings that passed before her.

Leslie affectionately referred to his grandsons Michael, Daniel, Joshua, and Joseph as "Fred" and "George" interchangeably, creating a fond family joke that lasted through the years. Joseph Reed, in particular, formed a special bond with his papa; he and his wife moved closer to him in 2022 to support him as his health declined, frequently helping with household tasks and sharing meals together.

Les was a true enthusiast of Westerns, frequently watching favorites like Clint Eastwood and Matt Dillon on Grit TV.  On Saturday mornings you could always find him in front of the television watching car shows. He also loved his country much, such as Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.

He was quite the dog person. He had several boston terriers (which will be buried with him) over the years. He and his daughter shared ownership  (Monica would say joint custody) of a very energetic Sheltie named Hermione. It was because of him that Hermione was able to count to five using treats. He also spoiled her rotten (Hermione sitting at his feet every time he had any kind of food). His love for animals also drew him to "The Incredible Dr. Pol," a show focusing on a veterinarian's adventures with a wide range of animals.

An avid car enthusiast, Les had a passion for car restoration shows (especially Studebakers which he owned many over the years). He continued to immerse himself in the automotive world well beyond his formal retirement. After his tenure at Atlas Ready Mix, he took on part-time roles at several auto body shops in Anderson, where he was frequently found tinkering under the hood. His mornings were a cherished routine at Olive's Automotive Services, enjoying coffee and fellowship with friends.

Leslie is survived by his daughter Monica Reed; her children Michael Reed (Amanda), Daniel Reed (Sarah), Joshua Reed (Morgan), and Joseph Reed (Emily). His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Bennett, Lincoln, and Ruby Reed, and Mason Reed. He is also survived by his son, Leslie Tolliver Jr., and his children, Nathaniel and Colin; and his daughter Carmin Tolliver and her sons, Corey, Albert, and William Gibson. His siblings, Bill Tolliver and May Grove, reside in Fairfield, Illinois, and he also leaves behind his cousin, Vicki Haskett of Anderson, Indiana,  and his Sister-in-law Doan Green.

He loved his “toys” such as his Harley Davidson tri-glide and his corvette. If seen something he wanted he just bought it.

A man of strong convictions—a trait some might call the "Tolliver Stubbornness"— Leslie requested no funeral services, preferring to be remembered as he lived. He wished for cremation and a return to his roots in Fairfield, Illinois. In lieu of a funeral, Leslie believed those who wanted to see him would have visited before his passing, reflecting his straightforward and genuine nature.

Leslie's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, celebrated for his unwavering spirit and the laughter he brought into their lives.
