Linsee T. “Lin” Montigney, 65, of Fishers, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 after a 14-month battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born August 2, 1955 in Fort Wayne, IN to Eugene and Lorie (Wilson) Stirnkorb, and graduated in 1973 from New Haven High School, where she was involved in Steno Lab, OEA, and German Club.
Lin retired in August 2017 after a distinguished, 41-year career of federal civil service with various agencies, the last 17 with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana, in Indianapolis. A lifelong Lutheran, she was most recently a member at Cornerstone Lutheran Church.
In her retirement, Lin enjoyed volunteering with the Assistance League of Indianapolis, and at Conner Prairie. She enjoyed traveling (especially cruises), dining out, and taking day trips with friends and Britton Falls neighbors – but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her granddaughters.
A lively storyteller with a vivacious personality, Lin was often the center of attention in a room. Her generous spirit was felt by old and new friends, family, and co-workers alike, through a constant stream of gifts, with or without occasion.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Bruce; son Troy (Sara) Montigney of Westfield; granddaughters Sophie and Molly; and siblings Tracee (Scott) Orum of Fort Wayne, Kurt (Analissa Trinidad) Stirnkorb of Chicago, and Eric (Joseph Santos) Stirnkorb of Carrollton, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Inurnment will take place at a later date following a small, family service at Cornerstone Lutheran Church’s Carmel site. Memorial contributions in Lin’s name may be made to the Assistance League of Indianapolis (www.alindy.org) or the Cornerstone Lutheran Church Foundation (www.cornerstonelutheran.church).
