Lucy Mae Pierce, 95, passed away at home on July 2, 2017 after being tenderly cared for by her son, Bill. She was born in Lima, Ohio to Andie B. and Pansy M. Jones on December 7, 1921.
Lucy married her first husband, James Moyer of Elwood, Indiana, in 1938. Together they had four children. Lucy married William A. Pierce of Sheridan, Indiana in 1956 and remained married for 48 years until his death in 2004. They had one child to complete the family.
Lucy was a direct descendent of the first families to settle in Allen County, Ohio in the year 1840. She was a member of the Lima, Ohio Allen County Historical Society.
Lucy worked for 27 years at Delco Remy Division of General Motors, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the UAW Local 662. She was also a member of the Jesus Christ, Praise and Worship Center of Anderson.
Lucy was a classy lady that took great care in fixing her hair and choosing her clothes to present herself looking and feeling her best.
Left to cherish Lucy’s memory are her children, Virginia (Fred) Merrill, Darla Crabtree, Lynda Jayne (Paul) Schroeder, James Stephen (Vicki) Moyer, and William Andy Pierce; stepson, Max (Sue) Pierce; stepdaughter-in-law, Violet Lafferty; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, William Oard; and close companion, Roger Hill.
Preceding Lucy in death are her parents; husband, William Pierce; brother, Andie Jones; sister, Donnabelle Oard; sister-in-law, Elenore Jones; son-in-law, Arthur Crabtree; daughter-in-law, Laura Pierce; and brother-in-law, Alvin Lafferty.
Visitation is Friday, July 7 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services. Graveside service and burial will immediately follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. Fred Merrill, Lucy’s son-in-law, will preside.
