Marjorie "Marge" A. Woods

Marjorie A. “Marge” Carter-Woods, 71, of Plainfield, IN, passed away on October 15, 2019. She was born on May 9, 1948 in Noblesville, Indiana to the late Ernest and Evelyn (Cottingham) Carter. Marge graduated from Madison Heights High School and received her Associates Degree from Indiana University. Marge retired from Eli Lilly & Company as a contracted meeting planner. She previously worked for Xerox as well.

Marge was currently a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church. Previously, she was involved in many of the women’s groups, in the churches where her husband was the pastor. She also participated in the Walk to Emmaus, along with working a few times on the Emmaus teams and in Kyros, which is their prison ministry. Marge also was a mentor to girls at the prison on Girl School Road, Indianapolis, IN.

Marge loved to travel! She went to Scotland a couple of times and stayed there a couple of years. After she met Ken, they would go on a trip at least 1x a year, and more trips after they both retired. Her favorite place became Sedona, AZ. Marge and Ken liked it so much there, they even contemplated eventually moving there one day.

Marge is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Kenneth Woods; nephew, Craig Carter (Sara) of Noblesville; nieces, Paula Carter of Indianapolis, Sarah J. Crowmer (Dwight) of Noblesville and Elizabeth Bledsoe (Phil) of Indianapolis; 13 great nieces and nephews; 6 great-great nieces and nephews; step sons, Stephen A. Woods (Roxanne) and Robert A. Woods (Christen); sister-in-law, Kathy Cooney (Douglas); and brothers-in-law, Kerry D. Woods and Kevin L. Woods (Leeann). She is preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above; along with her brother, Milton A. Carter; sister-in-law, June R. Carter; nephews, Paul W. Carter and Dwayne J. Carter; and niece, Jennifer Garcia.

There will be a memorial service at 12:00 pm on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a gathering on hour prior. Final Resting Place at Crownland Cemetery, Noblesville, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
