Mark D. Ake Sr., age 71, of Anderson, passed away on May 5, 2021 unexpectedly at his home. He was born on January 23, 1950 to the late Edwin M. and Phyllis (Hart) Ake.
Mark served in the National Guard after college for seven years. He spent 31 years working for AT&T. He was a dedicated member of Main St. Church of God in Anderson. He was an extremely hard-working man who would do anything for his friends and family. He was the kindest, gentlest man you could know. He was an avid toy collector and a huge military history buff. He loved to watch Dr. Who, Nascar, and the Cubs. He was a wonderful dad, grandpa, husband, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mark is survived by his children Mark D. Ake Jr. (Lindsey Perdue) and Ellen J. Ake; grandchildren Michael Ake (Megan Morris), Pierce Ake, and Montana Ake; sisters Cherylle Porter and Kim Weightman; sisters-in-law Eileen Schornhorst (Eric) and Jane Antonetti (Jeff); brother-in-law Ward Townsend (Jody); and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Kathy Townsend Ake, his parents listed above, and brothers Danny Ake and Jeffery Ake.
A visitation will be held on May 11, 2021 from 1-2pm with a funeral service beginning at 2pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Don Billey will be officiating.
