Martha Studer, 90, of Greenwood passed away on May 15, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edna (Miller) Hofmeister. She was a Catholic whose strong spiritual belief was always present and practiced throughout her entire life. She worked many years as an office clerk at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Indianapolis before retiring.
Martha was instantly loved by everyone who met her, a rare individual whose honesty and kindness won the affection of everyone whose lives she touched. Her voice was beautiful, and she was a member of the church choir. She enjoyed planting flowers, her finches at the feeder outside the window, and loved the hummingbirds that flitted around the yard. She did NOT like the big black birds that swooped down to steal the little birds’ food, and in her younger days would run out there waving her arms like a madwoman to shoo them away.
Martha’s ability to make people feel loved was limitless. She was so filled with compassion for others, she rarely asked anything for herself. Always in the background, cooing over grandbabies, busy in the kitchen so others could eat, picking up discarded gift wrap at Christmas, mailing children and grands birthday cards. (Took forever to convince her that she didn’t need to part with a twenty dollar bill for every person who has a birthday.)
She made the world a better place for all of us.
Martha is survived by her brothers: Henry Hofmeister and Joseph Hofmeister; her six children: Loretta Pipkin, Marianne Thomason, Linda Berry, Gerald (Jerry) Studer Jr., William (Bill) Studer, and Donald (Donnie) Studer; along with 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her late husband, Gerald Studer, her parents, Joseph & Edna (Miller) Hofmeister; her siblings: Frank Hofmeister, Thomas Hofmeister, Annie Mitchell, Dolores Studer, and Laura Marie Cloyd
